Shane Goudreau
(Canadian, b.1979)
Shane Goudreau is a Canadian born self-taught artist who started his professional career in early 2000 as a commercial muralist working with clients such as: Molson Canadian , Bacardi, Smirnoff, and the Canadian Armed Forces .
Goudreau’s ability to work on a large scale may very well have him as a Guinness record holder as the largest interior mural for a project he completed in Raxx Kingston Onatrio, Canada, which doubles the current record at nearly 20,000 square feet.
In addition to spreading his work to other parts of Canada, Goudreau has traveled the globe creating murals in parts of Europe and Dominican Republic as well as making his recent debut during Art Basel Week in Miami . Goudreau intends to continue to create murals he feels that it allows people who may not frequent galleries the opportunity to enjoy and experience his art daily. Goudreau’s newest venture with Fitz Contemporary is enabling him to focus more on his canvas pieces and sculptures.
Goudreau’s style of work can be described as multimedia depending on the project: primarily airbrush and hand-painted acrylic. The contrast between the two mediums is significant yet he has created a harmony when they are combined in the same piece. His purely acrylic landscapes and commissioned portraits emphasize detail, control and patience, while the essence of his multi-technique works on textile lie in broader strokes and a monochromatic yet vibrant acid-etched color. As different as these approaches to his art are, Goudreau brings the spirit of the subject to life. For the past two decades Goudreau has been refining these techniques and testing the boundaries of new materials to ensure that his work remains fresh and infused with a sense of wonder and fantasy.
